6 Red Flags When Looking For A Staffing Solution

Businesses in need of qualified, hourly workers often times turn to staffing agencies for help. However, the process of finding the right staffing solution can be stressful.

With the pressure of a big financial investment, it’s important that businesses know what to look for when choosing a staffing solution. That said, just as important is knowing the signs of when a partner isn’t the right fit.

Here is a list of six red flags to be aware of when looking for a staffing solution.

1. If they guarantee a 100% fill rate.

Let’s be honest, we are dealing with real people and human behavior is unpredictable. And with that, guaranteeing a 100% fill rate isn’t realistic. What is possible, however, is expecting a staffing agency to be transparent about how they can help fill staffing needs.

For more on why this 100% promise is a red flag, download our latest thoughts on the topic.

2. If they can’t tell you their current fill rate.

A lot of staffing agencies promise a 100% fill rate yet they are not exactly sure what their overall fill rate is. Each staffing firm should know their current average fill rate, and if they refuse to share it or claim it to be 100%, they aren’t the right partner for you.

3. If they can’t tell you who will show up for the shift.

Often times staffing agencies tell clients they can get workers to show up when and where they need them, but without much insight into the actual person who will do the work. Look for a staffing solution that provides a worker roster with photos and details on the individual workers doing the job.

4. If they don’t offer back-ups or waitlists.

Like we mentioned earlier, human behavior is unpredictable, but that shouldn’t mean a manager needs to cross their fingers that their staffing needs are met. Find a staffing solution that offers backup workers or other safety nets will ensure a successful outcome, even when emergencies happen.

5. If you can’t easily get in touch with them.

If a staffing agency doesn’t get back to you right away or make you feel like a priority from the beginning, chances are you will probably have the same issue when it comes to filling work orders. Look for a provider that makes you feel valued and feels like a strategic partner.

6. If they offer you a price that seems too good to be true.

As they say, ‘you get what you pay for.’ If a staffing agency offers a price that is far below the quotes received from other agencies, it’s important to keep in mind that cheaper isn’t always better. If a business wants a qualified, engaged worker, then the bigger price tag is often worth the investment in the long run.
