The theme for this year’s Human Capital Trends report from Deloitte was rewriting the rules for the digital age. As a business founded on the very belief that staffing challenges can be solved by making connections through a mobile application, we support firms like Deloitte who are helping to educate HR executives on this new digital world.
In some ways, business trends are being driven by the changing workforce itself. Of today’s workers, Deloitte’s Brett Walsh and Erica Volini write that they are “more digital, more global, diverse, automation-savvy, and social media proficient.” This shifting workforce means that the way we manage it must evolve in the same way. Tools and processes are becoming obsolete as quickly as new technologies and AI are turning how we think about the possibilities of these solutions on their heads.
Considering the fast pace of innovation, it’s not surprising that Deloitte found more than half of HR leaders don’t feel they’re effectively leveraging new sourcing channels and talent pools, including temporary labor marketplaces like Shiftgig (page 43 of the report). This is especially true of large enterprises who sometimes struggle with business agility in highly regulated industries and regions.
Does your company have a strategy in place to leverage an on-demand workforce? According to Deloitte’s report, a company’s ability to take advantage of these new models “will determine which businesses can attract needed talent and which struggle to identify and incorporate in demand skills.”
This fifth annual edition is full of ways to help HR execs prepare for the new digital business world.
