Every decision we make today will impact tomorrow. We each have the ability to impact our culture to become a gender-balanced society. At Shiftgig, we focus on diversity and inclusion every day, but March is special to us as it’s Women’s History month, with International Women’s Day on March 8. This years campaign theme is #BalanceforBetter; helping drive a balanced workforce and society.
As a company, we not only wanted to be a part of this campaign, but we also want to be a part of the change. #BalanceforBetter is a great way for our team to join together to focus on creating a gender-balanced workplace and culture.
Last year we hosted our first event in celebration of International Women’s Day, #PressforProgress. Our employees watched a Brene Brown TedTalk and discussed different initiatives we could take on related to women in the workplace.
This year we wanted to make our International Women’s Day celebration even bigger. We’re kicking off the day #BalancedforBetter with treats for all of our hard-working and passionate employees. During the afternoon, everyone will have the opportunity to share an important woman in their life--someone who has impacted their life in positive way. The goal of this campaign is to create a gender balanced workforce, so we’re looking forward to women and men participating. We wanted to do something where we’re celebrating all the amazing women in our culture; their struggles, the challenges they have to overcome in the workplace and in society, their accomplishments, successes, and even failures. By sharing these stories, we hope that it will inspire and motivate others to be the #BalanceforBetter and help foster an inclusive environment here at work and in their personal relationships. We also like to have a little fun on Friday’s, so this week’s Friday Challenge is a themed challenge highlighting women in history.
From our executive team, to team managers, to our employees, our goal is to create an inclusive culture where everyone's voice matters. While gender equality matters every day, we are excited to make International Women's Day a very special and empowering day for our colleagues.
